When it comes to your home’s plumbing system, expect to deal with a plumbing problem eventually. This is especially the case when people do not have regular inspections or have yet to establish a regular maintenance schedule. When people are unprepared and ill-equipped to deal with a plumbing problem find themselves desperately looking an emergency plumber, such as a burst pipe or toilet that won’t stop overflowing, they will quickly try to find a plumber to take care of their problem. However, they will run across quite a number of plumbers that may claim to be professionals offering very affordable rates. Very affordable plumbers may end up being unlicensed and for those on a budget the impulse to go with an unlicensed plumber may be very hard to resist – however, you should always hire a licensed plumbing service provider and here are three reasons why.

It Costs More to Hire Unlicensed Plumbers

The biggest reason that a homeowner would go out and hire an unlicensed plumber is that they are trying to save money. Usually they will find someone on a classified service, typically a free one like Craigslist to save a few bucks. The person they find may have some skills in the plumbing trade and is probably a good handyman – but if the person they hire is not in possession of a license they are running the risk of this person providing inappropriate or incorrect solutions to correct plumbing problems.

When the wrong plumbing solutions have been implemented it inevitably leads to further problems down the road. These plumbing problems may not be so easy to repair and may end up costing tens of thousands in water damages. By hiring a licensed plumbing service technician you are ensuring that the work will be performed correctly, solving existing problems and preventing any problems down the road.

A License Means Commitment To Knowledge

A license is more than just a piece of paper or industry document; it is a symbol of commitment to their trade. A plumber that holds a license is showcasing their dedication and personal commitment to their existing knowledge in addition to their continued willingness to learn and abide by all current laws, regulations, and safety recommendations – instead of simply relying on obsolete or even potentially harmful practices.

Even more important than displaying their dedication to plumbing service education, it is a symbol of their professionalism. And when it comes to dealing with the plumbing system of your property, an integral and sensitive system, you certainly want a professional to be taking on the task.

Licensed Plumbing Services Means Peace Of Mind

Have problems with sleeping too much? Hiring an unlicensed plumber may be just what you need to keep you up at night! One of the main advantages of hiring a licensed plumbing professional is to ensure that your plumbing job is completed correctly. This means that once the plumbing services are complete you don’t have to worry about problems cropping back up in the near future. When someone hires an unlicensed plumber to perform much needed plumbing services they run the risk of a botched job.

A botched plumbing job can be more than simply using quick fixes and inappropriate materials. Perhaps the plumber is using outdated techniques that have been updated for safety reasons. When you hire an unlicensed plumber to perform plumbing services you just never know what you are going to get.

Knowing Is Half the Battle

The fact is that your home plumbing system is very important and many people take this for granted. Just imagine what it would be like to live in your home without water – unable to take a shower or bath, not able to wash your dishes, no water to drink, no coffee, no tea, no laundry. Not only is this an integral system but it is also a system that has the potential to cause a lot of damage if not cared for properly. Water damage can be very sneaky; a water leak from a leaking fixture or pipe may cause quite a lot of damage before an unsuspecting homeowner realizes it.

If you are looking for a long-term solution and a good return on their investment, plumbing is definitely not an area to be taking risks. It cannot be overstated – hire a licensed plumbing service provider to solve your problems, you will not regret it!

Thanks for the comment Jonie, we feel it is incredibly important that those who need plumbing services hire professionals at all times. Plumbing is a task that demands a high level of knowledge, in stark contrast to jobs such as painting where a novice can get away with a poor job since it does not place anyone in harms way – although that point is debatable when it comes to dealing with epoxies.

Even a seemingly small task such as the installation of a faucet, which some people may DIY, can result in leaky connections which will inevitably lead to problems down the road. That’s why we recommend if people need plumbing services they should seek licensed professionals to ensure a high quality of service, the sort of service that saves them money in the long run.

I hadn’t thought of a license as a commitment to the trade. I had thought of it as a hoop to jump through before the government would let you act as a plumber. Now that you mention this, I remember that with any license you have to renew it. A licensed professional means that they are up to date on their skills.
